We now live here for over 6 years and never had any problems with the possums. Now they or it have discovered how easy it is to grab a meal in my garden. From strawberries, over mint, geranium, nasturtiums to the rose bush, every thing gets munched! I am all for sharing but the friendship ends somewhere.... I already have a smallish cage and also made some covers from left over gutter guard. However it looks as if I have to do more.
Has any one a remedy besides putting a net over and around the garden beds?

Wir wohnen nun schon ueber 6 Jahren hier und hatten bis jetzt nie Probleme mit den Oppossum die gegenueber im Wald wohnen. Nun haben sie oder es entdeckt dass es hier jede Menge zu knappern gibt. Von den Erdebberen ueber die Geranium, Kapuziner und Rosen, alles wird ratzekahl abgeraeumt. Ich habe schon ein kleineres Gehege und bastelt auch kleine Huete fuer einzelne Pflanzen. Nun muss ich aber alles einpacken mit einem Netz oder so. Ich teile ja gerne aber wenn ueber Nacht alles verschwindet hoert die Freundschaft auf!!!!
Yes, I am still around! Just had a bit of a brake due to no camera and little mojo and lots of other projects running. Like building a new fence, dismantling the inbuilt camping outfit and selling our van etc etc In order to post something I needed a quick project and another pair of gym pants fits the picture perfectly. I also want to make a matching top but that is still in the pipeline. Here we go.....Wear pics to follow as well....
Ja ich bin noch immer im Blogland! Hatte eine laengere Pause da ich ohne Kamera war , keine grosse Lust hatte und mich mit vielem anderem rum schlagen musste. Wir bauten einen neuen Zaun, mussten die Camping Auruestung im VW ausbauen zum verkaufen und vieles andere mehr. Da ich ein schnelles Project brauchte, waren ein paar Gym Hosen genau richtig. Ein passendes Top folgt gelegentlich noch dasselbe gilt fuer die Tragefotos.
As I have been mentioning before I have been doing pattern making classes for just one term. It has been a mixed experience. I made a drawing for a top and also the relevant calico muslin, plus a skirt. After having done the muslin in calico I tried it on. The teacher had several pieces we could do but there was nothing I liked, all a bit dated. So we decided to make trousers or rather jeans. After having done the pattern block and the muslin the fit was again not perfect. The body was way to high and the crotch just did not fit right. After having cut out and roughly assembled the Jeans I started tweaking. I had to insert a small piece in the end of the back crotch seam and considerably shorten the body. Finally I had something wearable! Unfortunately the course did not deliver what I was hoping for, namely a perfectly fitted patter according to my measurements.
Wie ich schon erwaehnt habe machte ich ein Semester in Schnittmuster zeichnen. Zuerst ging es los mit dem Oberteil und dann ein Jupe. Die Lehrerin hatte ein paar fertige Sachen als Muster. Mir gefiel aber nichts, alles etwas altbacken. Ich wollte Hosen resp einen Jumpsuit machen. Ein paar andere Frauen waren auch dabei zum Hosen zeichnen und so gingen wir dahinter. ich war gar nicht zufrieden mit dem Sitz des Calico Models. Der Koerper war zu hoch und der Schritt sass einfach gar nicht. Nachdem ich meine Jeans schon grob zusammengesetzt hatte gings hinters aendern. Ich musste einen Spickel im Schritt einsetzen und in der Hoehe etwa ca 5 cm abnehmen. Nach ziemlich rumbasteln bin ich nun an einem tragbaren Model angelangt. Was ich aber vom Kurs erwartete, naemlich ein perfekt sitzendes Schnittmuster nach meinen Massen das gab es leider nicht.

Nach einer langeren Funkstille ohne Fotoapparat, viel zu tun und nicht grosse Lust zum sich hin setzen und bloggen, da bin ich wieder.
Allen meinen treuen Leserinnen und Leser (!) wuensche ich eine recht schoene Weihnacht und alles Guite auch im Nenen Jahr.
Es ist immer schoen von euch zu hoeren und ich finde es einfach tolle so viele gleichgesinnte Frauen im Cyberspace zu haben! Da ich nichts was nach Weihnacht ausschaut im Haus habe ein kleiner Gruss aus dem Garten.
When I feel like something easy and quick I lately make a pair of thighs for the gym. The same altered pattern from an old Burda magazine works well. This time the legs are a little longer since it is/was winter. The top is a RTW from one of the big stores.
Wenn ich etwas schnelles und einfaches machen will kommen meistens leggings fuer das Gym dran. Ich brauche ein abgeandertes Muster von einer alten Burda. Diesmal sind die Beine etwas laenger da es ja hier Winter ist/war! Das Top habe ich irgendwo gekauft da es perfekt dazu passt.
I had the material in my stash for a long time, originally bought from Tessutti. The pattern comes from the Salvos and is Simplicity 5963. As always I had to make a FBA which gave caused me some grieve until I had the "aha" moment and found the mistake. Seam ripper to the fore and after changing the bust darts and side seams the fit was better. Still not perfect but that's it, I will not try to do more fixing. The collar was in one piece which I do not like much so I copied one with a stand from an existing shirt. Again some toing and froing until it fit. Then after it was all assembled I found that the interfacing was far to stiff for my liking. More seam ripping, then the interface had to go. I only left some at the points of the collar and along the seams and now it is much better. I had so little material that The collar had to be cut in two pieces! Fortunately the pattern hides it well. The darts both back and front are only about 1 cm deep. Another adjustment due to my non existing hourglass figure.
One of my favourites.... probably not but it will come in handy anyway in the coming warmer month.
By the way, I just enrolled for a pattern making course at the Community College. Then I will have at least a basic pattern that fits and which I can use as a guideline for future projects.
Dieses Stueck Stoff hatte ich schon lange am Lager. Das Schnittmuster fand ich auch vor einiger Zeit bei der Heilsarmee. Wie immer musste ich einiges andern wegen meines Vorbaus. Klappte zuerst gar nicht aber nach einigem proebeln hatte ich den AHA Moment .
Ich bin immer noch nicht hunderprotzentig zufrieden mit dem Sitz Muss dann mal durch meine Naehbuecher schauen ob ich die Falte auch noch beseitigen kann. Der Kragen des Musters war in einem Stueck was ich nicht so mag und do bastelte ich einen mit Steg nach einem anderen Hemd. ich hatte sowenig Stoff dass ich den Kragen sogar noch zusammen setzen musste. Dank des Muster sieht man es ueberhaupt nicht. Ein Lieblingstueck....glaube nicht aber ist sehr angenehm zu tragen und kommt sicher oft zum Zug in der nun kommenden warmen/heissen Jahreszeit. Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich mich fuer einen Kurs zum Schnittmuster zeichnen angemeldet. So habe ich dann wenigstens ein Basis Muster das endlich mal passt und das ich dann je nach Bedarf aendern kann.
By coincidence we saw that the Cherry blossom Festival was on in the Auburn Botanical Garden. So last Sunday we drove there and had a look around. Unfortunately the trees were no longer in full bloom but it was nevertheless a lovely sight. We also admired all the other flowering bushes and trees and the lovely gardens. Was well worth a visit!
Wir sahen in der Zeitung dass in Auburn, ca 1 std Fahrt von uns, das Kirschen Blueten Festival ist. Kurzentschlossen fuhren wir letzten Sonntag hin. Leider waren die Baeume nicht mehr in voller Pracht aber es war trotzdem ein wunderschoener Anblick. Auch der Rest dieses Bontanischen Gartens ist schoen angelegt und wir verbrachten einen schoenen Tag dort.
