After a bit of a break due to no camera, lots to do and not much mojo I am back in blogland.
To all my loyal followers a very happy christmas and all the best for the new year. I always enjoy hearing from you, reading your comments and blogs! It is lovely to have such a nice bunch of cyberfriends. Since I have nothing remotely christmassy in my house something from the garden will have to do!
Nach einer langeren Funkstille ohne Fotoapparat, viel zu tun und nicht grosse Lust zum sich hin setzen und bloggen, da bin ich wieder.
Allen meinen treuen Leserinnen und Leser (!) wuensche ich eine recht schoene Weihnacht und alles Guite auch im Nenen Jahr.
Es ist immer schoen von euch zu hoeren und ich finde es einfach tolle so viele gleichgesinnte Frauen im Cyberspace zu haben! Da ich nichts was nach Weihnacht ausschaut im Haus habe ein kleiner Gruss aus dem Garten.
When I feel like something easy and quick I lately make a pair of thighs for the gym. The same altered pattern from an old Burda magazine works well. This time the legs are a little longer since it is/was winter. The top is a RTW from one of the big stores.
Wenn ich etwas schnelles und einfaches machen will kommen meistens leggings fuer das Gym dran. Ich brauche ein abgeandertes Muster von einer alten Burda. Diesmal sind die Beine etwas laenger da es ja hier Winter ist/war! Das Top habe ich irgendwo gekauft da es perfekt dazu passt.
I had the material in my stash for a long time, originally bought from Tessutti. The pattern comes from the Salvos and is Simplicity 5963. As always I had to make a FBA which gave caused me some grieve until I had the "aha" moment and found the mistake. Seam ripper to the fore and after changing the bust darts and side seams the fit was better. Still not perfect but that's it, I will not try to do more fixing. The collar was in one piece which I do not like much so I copied one with a stand from an existing shirt. Again some toing and froing until it fit. Then after it was all assembled I found that the interfacing was far to stiff for my liking. More seam ripping, then the interface had to go. I only left some at the points of the collar and along the seams and now it is much better. I had so little material that The collar had to be cut in two pieces! Fortunately the pattern hides it well. The darts both back and front are only about 1 cm deep. Another adjustment due to my non existing hourglass figure.
One of my favourites.... probably not but it will come in handy anyway in the coming warmer month.
By the way, I just enrolled for a pattern making course at the Community College. Then I will have at least a basic pattern that fits and which I can use as a guideline for future projects.
Dieses Stueck Stoff hatte ich schon lange am Lager. Das Schnittmuster fand ich auch vor einiger Zeit bei der Heilsarmee. Wie immer musste ich einiges andern wegen meines Vorbaus. Klappte zuerst gar nicht aber nach einigem proebeln hatte ich den AHA Moment .
Ich bin immer noch nicht hunderprotzentig zufrieden mit dem Sitz Muss dann mal durch meine Naehbuecher schauen ob ich die Falte auch noch beseitigen kann. Der Kragen des Musters war in einem Stueck was ich nicht so mag und do bastelte ich einen mit Steg nach einem anderen Hemd. ich hatte sowenig Stoff dass ich den Kragen sogar noch zusammen setzen musste. Dank des Muster sieht man es ueberhaupt nicht. Ein Lieblingstueck....glaube nicht aber ist sehr angenehm zu tragen und kommt sicher oft zum Zug in der nun kommenden warmen/heissen Jahreszeit. Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich mich fuer einen Kurs zum Schnittmuster zeichnen angemeldet. So habe ich dann wenigstens ein Basis Muster das endlich mal passt und das ich dann je nach Bedarf aendern kann.
By coincidence we saw that the Cherry blossom Festival was on in the Auburn Botanical Garden. So last Sunday we drove there and had a look around. Unfortunately the trees were no longer in full bloom but it was nevertheless a lovely sight. We also admired all the other flowering bushes and trees and the lovely gardens. Was well worth a visit!
Wir sahen in der Zeitung dass in Auburn, ca 1 std Fahrt von uns, das Kirschen Blueten Festival ist. Kurzentschlossen fuhren wir letzten Sonntag hin. Leider waren die Baeume nicht mehr in voller Pracht aber es war trotzdem ein wunderschoener Anblick. Auch der Rest dieses Bontanischen Gartens ist schoen angelegt und wir verbrachten einen schoenen Tag dort.
This time my refashion was for my husband. A few years ago when we where in Tamworth for the country music festival he bought himself a jeans shirt/jacket with short sleeves. He never wore it since it was to thick for a shirt sleeve and bit to large as well. The solution was to make it more into a jacket. I bought a smallish piece of matching material, and made long sleeves with cuffs after another shirt. I also covered the placket and the button facing. It was also to big over the shoulders and I had to take it in by about 3 cm each side. Then finally I had to shortened it by ca 10cm and fashioned a rounded hem.
The result, a much loved western style shirt/jacket.
Finally, a bit of a write up of our holidays! It already seems quite a long time ago since we came back from our visit to the east coast of Canada. We flew to Boston, hired a car, then drove up to Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and New Foundland. It was rather cold to start of with, at night about 6/7 degrees and during the day about 15/16. We even saw some smallish icebergs and snow lingering in the more sheltered spots. However it got gradually warmer as we headed south but there where also a lot more moskitos. The landscape is spectacular, lots and lots of water, either lakes, streams, bogs or the ocean. We also drove through huge forests and everything was wet, windswept and often foggy! Several times we turned around on our walks through the national Parks as the fog rolled down from the mountains. As always camping was what we did and we spent most nights on lovely secluded spots. Now we are back and are working on our film. Once finished I will put the link in the blog so you can see a bit more of this corner of the world! For now just a few photos..... I do not have many since filming was the order of the day.
Endlich kommt nun doch noch ein kleiner Bericht von unseren Ferien. Es duenkt uns wir seien schon so lange wieder zu Hause nach unserer Reise an die Ostkuest Canadas! Wir flogen nach Boston, mieteten ein Auto und los gings nach Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia und New Foundland. Mitte Juni war es noch eher kalt, so 6/7 Grad in der nacht und am Tag 15/16 Grad. Wir sahen sogar noch kleinere Eisberge und Schnee in geschuetzten Lagen. Als wir wieder suedlich fuhren wurde es waermer hatte aber auch viel mehr Moskitos! Die Landschaft ist spektakulaer mit viel Wasser. Seien es Seen, Fluesse, Suempfe oder das Meer. Wir fuehren auch durch riesige Waelder und alles war nass, vom Wind zerzaust und vielmals neblig. Wie immer wurde meistens campiert und wir fanden einige lauschige einsame Orte zum stehen. Nun sind wir seit fast 7 Wochen zurueck und arbeiten am Film der auch diesmal wieder entsteht. Wenn wir fertig sind werde ich dann den Link im Blog erwaehnen so koennt ihr auch ein bisschen was von diesem Teil der Welt sehen. Bis dann ein paar wenige Fotos......auch ich filmte diesmal meistens und beides geht einfach schlecht.
We are back from our holiday but the computer was plying up big time and I have not yet been able to compose anything from what we saw. Since I had the little write up about our garden ready made and in stock here we go.......
When we moved in our house 6 years ago I had to create space for all my plants which I took along. As a matter of fact 3 trailer loads!!!!Beside the house was just half dead lawn which I chopped up and removed, then planted most of my things and put pine bark down. What I did not know was that every time it rained heavely a lot of the bark got washed away. After having to sweep and clean up the mess numerous times I had enough and I got rid of the bark. I also removed a lot of the plants which became straggly or did not look nice anymore. After putting down weed mat we put almost one tone of river gravel down. Looks much better and is also less work! The bulls head comes from Cape York when we drove the telegraph Line track some time ago. The pots are my own pieces. I now have my very own creek bed!
Wir sind wieder zu Hause, hatten aber enorme Problem mit dem Computer bis jetzt. In Ermangelung eines neuen Beitrags hier etwas vom "Lager"!
Als wir vor 6 Jahren hier einzogen brachten wir 3 Anhaenger voll Pflanzen mit. Da es keinen Platz hatte zum was setzen raeumte ich den mickerigen Rasen neben dem Haus ab und pflanzte das meiste dort. Ringsum kam Rindenhaecksel damit es nicht soviel Unkraut gibt.Was ich nicht realisierte war dass jedesmal wenn es stark regnete schwemnmte es viel von dem Haecksel weg. Nach zigmal aufraumen und putzen hatte ich genug und raeumte den Haecksel weg. Auch viele der Pflanzen hackte ich aus.Dann kam Unkrautmatte auf den Boden und fast eine Tonne Flusskies. Nun schaut es wieder viel besser aus und das Problem mit dem wegwaschen ist geloest. Wir nennen dies nun unser ganz privates Flussbett! Die Toepfe sind aus der eigenen Werkstatt und der Kuhkopf kommt vom Cape York ganz im obersten Zipfel von Australien.
